Project Description
Rosedale is a contemporary architectural residence defined by a restrained street presence and deliberate control of light, privacy and outlook in Glen Iris. The façade is articulated through a rhythm of steel fins and measured openings, balancing solidity with framed views and a clear sense of depth. Massing is composed to protect internal living spaces while allowing the building to sit confidently within its suburban context.
Inside, the interior language shifts from graphic to tactile, with off-form concrete set against polished plaster surfaces and timber veneer joinery. Circulation is organised as a clear sequence, with a gallery corridor establishing long sightlines and calibrated moments of light. Curved stonework and disciplined junctions introduce softness and weight, while aged brass hardware is used sparingly to sharpen key thresholds and touchpoints.
At the centre of the home, a sculptural helical stair becomes both landmark and connector, held within a tall void where light washes across curved stone. Built by TCON in collaboration with Webster Architecture & Interiors for architecture and interiors, with landscape design by Nathan Burkett Landscape Architecture, delivery required detailed coordination of off-form pours, steel integration and tight-tolerance joinery and stone set-out. The result is composed and enduring, with clarity carried through to each connection and edge.
